My Symphony

To live content with small means.... To seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion.... To be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich.... To study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly.... To listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart.... To bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never.... In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common....

...........this is to be my symphony.

Putz Churches

This year I have decorated with vintage Putz or glitter churches that I have collected.

Come on in and look inside my new vintage cabinet.

Take an even closer look.

Start at the top shelf:

This is my favorite church. It is the largest. I bought it with some money that I had from my dad. It reminds me of the church that he and my mom displayed every year at Christmas.

I love the red steeples and roofs on these two little churches.

The "stained" glass windows are so nice on this one.

This one shimmers in gold.

This one is wide and not long.

Here's a peek at two other glitter houses that are not vintage but still beautiful.

Another look at the vintage cabinet that houses these special churches. They are proclaiming the reason for the season. Merry Christmas.

Sweet Frenchie

mossy2
Finished this cute little desk and got it into Mossy Oak right away. Bought it at the local flea market for a song. Used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to finish it. It is painted in Old White and highlighted in Duck Egg Blue. I love how it turned out.  I must remember to take before and after pictures……

Corbels

While I was thrifting last week I found two marvelous marble corbels. They are chippy and have some broken edges on the top, but they are still wonderful. Bet they won't fall over in a big wind.

Worked today at Traditions and added many touches to my booth. Added a beautiful flower basket quilt to the rail around the balcony. It looks awesome from the main floor.

Crying Doesn't Help

Went to Goodwill to look for some furniture to paint for the shop. Found the most beautiful French Provincial coffee table with a marble center. I was estatic. Finished my shopping and moved my car to load the piece. Couldn't believe the helpers were loading it on its side. Watched the marble slip out and go crashing to the cement. It was an accident but oh how I wanted to paint that beautiful table........

Expanding the business

Today I stopped at Traditions Antique Mall to pick up the contract and to measure my new space. My new space will feature more shabby pieces with an emphasis on painted furniture. This past weekend we went to the Lakewood 400 in Cumming, Georgia. I made several great contacts with fellow shabby friends. I purchased some unique items to put in the new space on September 1. I also met the new owner of High Faluting Junk. She is having fun being a Annie Sloan mini stockist and experimenting with the great Annie Sloan paint. Who would know I would be so busy in retirement and be having so much fun exploring the antique and vintage world.  More later.
